Sadly, there is no definite cure for this condition and the treatment for chronic fatigue syndrome can be very complex. Traditional and alternative methods alike are used to manage the symptoms promptly so that worse symptoms may be prevented. The only thing important for any CFS patient to know is that working with the doctor and health care professionals for their individual plan of care may help them live a more normal life amidst their condition.

Perhaps the first treatment for chronic fatigue syndrome is to identify if there are any negative beliefs and behaviors that has led to the development of the disorder. This is done through counseling and managed through cognitive behavioral therapy. This is important so that the patient will be able to manage stress and adapt well when other symptoms come about.

Since the symptoms of these patients are highly unpredictable, symptomatic management varies per individual. Primary symptoms may include muscle and joint pains, sleep problems, fatigue, headaches, sore throat, and decrease in mental capacity. Some patients also complain of gastrointestinal problems, depression and allergies.

To manage pain and stress, massage, touch therapy, deep breathing and yoga may be done. This may also help if they experience sleep problems. Sleeping pills, vassopressors and anti-inflammatory drugs may also be prescribed and taken by the patient when the need arises. Vitamins and mineral supplements are also given to boost the immune system.

Patients with CFS are also advised to have an exercise regimen. As treatment for chronic fatigue syndrome, they should engage themselves with daily exercise that is broken into 2-3 shorter sessions. They should begin exercises slowly and then gradually increase their pace as they are able to tolerate. Sometimes, merely letting a patient comb through his hair or feed himself can be a form of exercise already. Allow them to dress up on their own so that they initiate movement. You can also assist them in walking several times a say until they can do it on their own. Stretching and strengthening exercises are best for patients with chronic fatigue. To begin with, simple hand stretching, sitting and standing at very slow pace can already be their exercise also.

If a patient is severely ill and cannot tolerate exercises, anything the patient can do in order to move may be his exercise. It does not matter whether he grasps a pen or picks up an object, as long as movement is done. More complex exercises may just follow after he is able to tolerate greater movements.

Patients are also referred to support groups so that their social needs will be met. This is important so that they meet other people with the same condition, and they can learn how to cope with chronic fatigue from each other’s experiences.

Research is still on-going to determine which drugs can truly help patients with chronic fatigue. Therefore treatment for chronic fatigue syndrome will be dynamic. It is always best to discuss with your doctor your plan of care so that you know which treatment options you will go for.

There are a lot of people which are affected with chronic fatigue syndrome. This is a mental illness characterized by an incapacitating fatigue. Chronic fatigue syndrome affects multiple areas in the body and it is not be relieved by sleep. Some of the symptoms are often sore throat, muscle spasms and pain in some joints and sometimes headaches which are quite severe. There is also the presence of malaise or a severe depression that often lasts a day. Because of this illness, there is also the presence of sensitivity in all kinds of food, irregular palpitations as well as jaw pain. The causative factor of such a disease is still unknown and sometimes it is asymptomatic meaning it reveals no symptoms. That is why the treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome is often delayed.

Some studies reveal that this illness can be triggered by a number of conditions such as viral infections, problems with life, lack of nutrients inside the body and hormonal imbalances due to problems in the pituitary gland. Another causative agent of chronic fatigue syndrome can be because of dysfunction in the immunity of a person. Because most people who are affected with this illness are also hypersensitive, they are often led to use form of medication. Since the treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome can be based on two types of medication, those which are from nature and those which are synthesized in a lab.

Most of the people which are affected with disease would rely on complimentary medicine. One of the widely used for the treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome is Ginseng. This is a herb which is widely used in the eastern part of the world and because of its properties, it is used to increase strength and decrease the effects of fatigue. Ginseng also increases immune function so it is also used in battling other immuno compromised diseases.

If you prefer a treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome which is made in a lab then you can rely on NADH. NADH, also known as Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide, is made from niacin which is also known as Vitamin B3. This vitamin is needed for the production of energy inside the body. Another is L-Carnitine which is needed in converting energy. Since chronic fatigue syndrome is based on a lack of energy, we need L-carnitine to promote energy production inside the body. Yet one must remember that a concentrated dose of L-carnitine can cause problems such as diarrhea so be sure to take it according to doctors orders.

The last treatment of this illness would be the use of Coenzyme Q10. This is actually a compound which is produced in the mitochondria. Since mitochondria are responsible for the production of energy inside the body, we need this compound to gain strength. This compound is also responsible in the production of Adenosine Tri Phosphate or ATP which is the major powerhouse of the body. So depending on the type of condition that a patient has, a physician might prescribe either the natural form of treatment for this illness or they would provide those medicines which are synthesized and sold by pharmaceutical companies.

The cause of chronic fatigue syndrome is unclear. Researchers have largely unaware for many years. It ‘true that you have obvious symptoms, but the cause is still very difficult. More recently, however, new findings from research and to connect the interruption of a stomach bug.

The stomach was first proposed as a possible cause of chronic fatigue syndrome, as has been observed that indigestionOften accompany the disease. Many patients with chronic fatigue also report that they have the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome and other gastrointestinal disorders. The researchers determined that these symptoms warrant further investigation to determine the cause of chronic fatigue.

Studies have shown that enteroviruses present in 80% of people with chronic fatigue syndrome has been. But this virus is found in only 20% of the populationfrom a healthy control group. Enterovirus is located in the intestine and can cause respiratory and gastrointestinal. Produced an increase of inflammation, the different symptoms. It can also affect the central nervous system, heart and muscles.

An anti-inflammatory diet and drink can be a very important role of indigestion. For example, berries such as blueberries are great anti-inflammatory properties. Cat’s Claw is a herb that has the support of the immune systemSystem, while reducing inflammation. A high-fiber diet rich in whole grains, along with plenty of clean water most of the digestive system and thus provide a series of inflammation and symptoms.

Herbal remedies are also known to be useful in the treatment of viral infections. Herbal antivirals are effective in stimulating the immune system are Echinacea, goldenseal, and licorice. Ginseng can be used for recovery from chronic fatigue syndrome supportin the long run, because it is fighting viral infections. A word of advice is that patience be exercised when the herbal supplements, because they require time to build with efficiency requirements.

St. John’s wort can also be used as antiviral herbs. A second advantage is that this herbal remedy is often used for depression, a common fight symptom patients with chronic fatigue syndrome also present. Most patients with chronic fatigue syndrome feel chronicallymiserable at some point in their illness.

One can imagine that a virus could be the cause of chronic fatigue syndrome. However, more research is needed to obtain a better understanding about the virus, so that effective treatments are sought. Addressing the main cause of chronic fatigue, it is possible that the conditions for free forever!

We’re getting close to Christmas, and (as usual), I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed. I still need to do lots of wrapping, a bit of baking, and stocking-stuffer shopping. I’m tracking the packages I’ve shipping to far-off family and hoping no freak storms disrupt their delivery (like they did last year.)

I’m not doing too badly, though, considering. Why? Because I have a schedule, and I’m trying my darnedest to stick to it. I know when I’m going to wrap, when I’m going to shop, and when I’m going to bake. I’ve scheduled extra time for all of those things, in case I get slowed down. I’m also not worrying about the things I can’t control — if something prevents me from getting everything done, I know my priorities and I know what to do away with first.

I’ve gotten a bit panicky at times, but when I feel that coming on I look at my schedule. Once I see that I have time set aside for all the things I need to do, I feel better.

So if you’re feeling overwhelmed right now, sit down and make a list of the things you have left to do. Prioritize: what absolutely must get done, and what can go by the wayside? What can somebody else do, or help with? Once you have your list prioritized, look at your schedule between now and Christmas and see when you have time. If you don’t have time for everything, prioritize once again. Think about yourself and those closest to you: what’s most important to them? If some things on your list are there to please your aunt, a cousin, a neighbor, etc., they’ll just have to understand that you can’t do everything.

In the end, what your family and friends should really want from this time of year is — YOU! If you’re happy and (relatively) healthy, you can be part of the celebration. If you’re exhausted and feeling lousy (like I was 2 years ago on Christmas day), you can’t. I might not get a pecan pie and a plate of fudge made this year, but at least I won’t need a 3-hour nap again.

Research has proved that Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is caused by mercury poisoning. If you have dental fillings that are mercury based you have a greater change of suffering from this condition. This does not mean to say that only those with dental fixtures are at risk.

If you lead an unhealthy lifestyle where you eat unhealthy foods and do not get the adequate amount of rest or exercise you are prone to suffer from this condition. There are plenty of ways to control this condition naturally and effortlessly. The most obvious way to rectify this condition would be to check your dental fixture and replace them if they are mercury based.

You must also pay attention to the food that you eat. A variety of fish and other sea foods are high in mercury content and hence they must be avoided. Pregnant women must stay away from sea foods that contain mercury as they are harmful to the fetus. If you are diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome then you need to adopt a vegan lifestyle until you are able to regain your energy levels.

If you are diagnosed with this condition then you need to expose yourself to the sun for a few minutes daily. Vitamin D is good for your skin and it improves your health drastically. A morning walk is a good way to get your exposure to the sun.

Avoiding alcohol and smoke is a good way to ensure that you are healthy and the mercury does not hamper your health. If you feel extremely tired or low on energy throughout the day then you must take gingko biloba supplements. Speak to a certified herbalist about the safest way to consume the herb.

Green tea is a drink that is full of rich anti oxidants that help your body to rejuvenate when it gets tired. If you feel tired during the day you need to drink a cup of green tea; it will perk up your energy levels instantly.
Aloe Vera juice is also extremely effective in getting rid of fatigue. This natural drink gives you an energy boost to kick start your day. It is best to drink this juice in the morning.

Ginseng is another herb that is known to effectively increase energy levels. You can add ginseng to your cup of tea in order to get the maximum impact.

What is the holiday season like for someone with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? Different. Really different. Everyone could stand to reduce the stress this time of year, but for the chronically ill, it’s essential.

Do you suffer from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? Or do you know someone who is ill? Then lend an ear to some suggestions not on the standard wish list.

1. Gifts from a distance

Travel is out for CFS shut-ins at the holidays. Many are not up to people visiting. Some can’t handle phone calls.

This can be an intensely lonely time for the chronically ill. Send them cards, send emails, send them gifts. Write about special memories shared during happier, healthier days. Compile a photo album of time spent together.

Make sure to consider any chemical sensitivities when choosing gifts.

2. Be a Personal Shopper

Many with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome find shopping a huge obstacle. Some are housebound. Some can no longer drive. Some are able to go out but facing holiday crowds may do them in.

You can offer to do some of their shopping, or drive them to the stores. Help them really experience the joy of the season. And they will feel loved in the process.

3. Lower the financial bar

Many who are chronically ill have unhealthy budgets. Unable to work, or shouldering high medical expenses, they often live on a slim little shoestring.

Draw names for gift exchanges rather than buying for everyone in the family. Emphasize smaller, more personal gifts. Better yet, emphasize the importance of being together, so that gifts are incidental.

4. Gifts that keep on giving

If someone you love is chronically ill, consider giving a gift of things like monthly help around the house, or weekly visits with them.

An afghan for the lady who is bed-ridden and chills easily, snow-shovelling for the winter for the man with muscle pain or vertigo. Perhaps a present of a much-needed supplement, or chemical-free organic soap, or an offer of rides to the doctor would be most valuable.

5. Cultivate hobbies

Does your chronically ill friend have a hobby that helps while away the hours, or allows them to be productive or creative? Consider yarn or needles for the knitter, books by a favorite author, music to soothe and uplift.

6. Provide a haven

Does one of your guests suffer from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?

Prepare a quiet room they can go to for a short (or long) rest or nap, a place they can retire to if festivities wear them out.

And if you tell them ahead of time that you’ve planned for this, they’ll feel more confident about pacing themselves through the visit. They will be touched by your thoughtfulness of their vulnerability.

7. Tone down the audio/visual

If you can avoid flashing lights as decorations your chronic friends will thank you for it. Keep in mind that loud music and rowdy kids can cause sensory, neurological overload that may have repercussions for a surprisingly long time.

8. Think small and intimate

People with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome often are drained by large get-togethers. A small gathering for a short period of time works best. Your loved one will be able to enjoy more holiday cheer later, rather than being flattened by one big celebration.

9. Scrutinize the menu

Consider any special diets of those who sit down to your table. Gluten sensitivity? Have something available that contains no flour. Cut down on the sugar in the desserts.

Go ahead and lay out your traditional meal, but provide extra dishes more friendly to those who can’t handle certain foods.

When in doubt, ask. BEFORE the menu is finalized.

10. Ease the load

If you’ve always fed the family but now suffer from CFS, let others share this blessed burden. Your sister can bake (or buy) the pies, your brother can bring rolls.

Your aunt would love to make her special holiday recipe. Don’t be shy about asking the younger ones to clean up.

The priority after all, is spending quality time with people you love.

I spent 15 years losing the battle against CFS. Two years ago, I found treatment that worked for me, and now I am making a comeback.

Alice Neville of the New Zealand Herald reports that the previously-unknown cause of chronic fatigue syndrome has been found.

Chronic fatigue syndrome, which affects 20,000 New Zealanders (and around 17 million people globally), has faced much skepticism over the years due to its invisible cause. However, recent research suggests that a retrovirus may be to blame, allowing researchers to begin looking into treatments for the disease.

“That such a serious problem could be the cause of ME may seem an odd thing for sufferers to celebrate, but it means a real understanding of the disease is finally in sight.

“When Vallings began working with ME sufferers more than 30 years ago, there was little understanding of the condition.

“Until the last five years or so, people have been sceptical because there is no definite cause and no definite tests,”she said.

“A lot of sufferers look well, so had been mislabelled as having psychiatric conditions, and the term fatigue is very vague.” Attitudes to ME in New Zealand are more advanced than in other countries such as America, where sufferers struggle to have their condition accepted as a legitimate illness, she says.”

You might not know it, but feeling stressed and totally out of things might not simply be a case of getting tired with too much stuff to do. You might already be experiencing chronic fatigue symptoms and it would be best if you can actually identify them as early as you can. Fatigue reduces not just the body’s productivity, but it may also have some negative effects on the overall performance of your body’s systems. So here are some chronic fatigue symptoms that you might want to look for:

1. Fatigue

2. Unrelaxing sleep that usually feels like you did not get to sleep at all

3. Sore throat

4. Memory loss as well as difficulty to focus on tasks assigned

5. Large lymph nodes around the armpits and the neck areas

6. Muscle pain without knowing the reason behind it

7. Mild to severe headache

One of the things that you must know about chronic fatigue is that it there may also be an underlying reason for sickness which is why it happened in the first place. It can happen because there is an internal infection spreading in the body already. Chronic fatigue may also happen as a result of too much work that the body feels tired and stressed out already.

If you feel that you are already experiencing these symptoms on a regular basis or for more than a week, it might be safe to consider having yourself undergone a medical checkup just to be sure. Chronic fatigue is often neglected by the patient at first because the usual symptoms that pop up are just those that are easy to target.

Aside from the above mentioned symptoms, here are a few more things that can be telling signs of chronic fatigue syndrome:

1. Abdominal pain

2. Irregular beating of the heart

3. Psychological illnesses which can manifest in the form of depression, being easily irritated, and even experiencing panic attacks.

4. Disturbances in the peripheral vision may also occur such as unprecedented blurring of the eyesight and sudden sensitivity to light.

5. Drastic loss or gain in weight.

James Richardsen is a health enthusiast actively involved in the adrenal fatigue community. After suffering from adrenal fatigue for several years he was lucky enough to stumble across some techniques that helped him to beat adrenal fatigue. He has since helped many others overcome adrenal fatigue symptoms and get their life and energy back.

Once upon a time, if you looked in the encyclopedia, you wouldn’t have seen any reference to chronic fatigue syndrome because it didn’t exist. People who actually suffered from it were told that it was all in their mind and made to feel like they were crazy. Fortunately, that was a long time ago. Today, while we don’t know what causes it and don’t have a cure for it, we do know it exists. Question is, how do YOU know if you have it? This article will try to give you some answers.

The hard part about diagnosing CFS is that many of the symptoms are also common to other illnesses such as headache, fatigue, joint pain, forgetfulness, confusion, irritability, lymph node tenderness, mild fever, muscle aches, muscle weakness and sort throat. Any of these symptoms can be caused by a number of other problems. Therefore, it is important to eliminate the other possibilities first before a diagnosis of CFS can be made. And that’s not always easy.

However, once the other possibilities have been eliminated and a diagnosis is made, it’s important to begin treatment for this illness immediately. While there is no cure, there are things you can do, most of which are lifestyle changes. It’s important to remain active, exercise regularly and get out of the house when you can as depression is one of the common side effects of this illness, mostly from wondering what the actual problem is.

There are some theories, though not proven, as to what causes CFS. One of them is that it is caused by a virus such as Epstein-Barr or a herpes virus. However, this is just a theory and so far no specific virus has been identified as a cause.

Another theory is that CFS may be caused by an inflammation along the nervous system that may be some sort of immune response similar to what happens to people who suffer from MS.

And then of course there is always age, any prior illnesses, stress, diet, environment and even genetics to consider. Research is still being done in this area.

Not too long ago, we knew very little about chronic fatigue syndrome. Most doctors would not even acknowledge that it existed and when they didn’t find a cause that they could clinically diagnose, they looked to psychological problems. Today, we know better. If you or somebody you know is suffering from CFS or suspect that you or they are, this is what you need to know about the disease.

For one thing, it is a real disease. This is not something that you have conjured up in your head. Don’t let anybody make you think that it is. Today, we can more accurately diagnose this disease even though we don’t know what causes it and, up until now, have no cure for it. Still, we know it exists and can tell you if you’re suffering from it.

While you or a loved one probably feel chronically tired, the disease itself has many more symptoms that usually go unnoticed for two reasons. The first reason is that the other symptoms are usually not as severe as the actual fatigue itself. In addition to that, the other symptoms are very common to other illnesses. Therefore, it is important to eliminate the other illnesses first before a diagnosis of CFS can be made.

As I said, there is no cure for this disease. Right now we only have common sense treatment and lifestyle changes. The lifestyle changes are strictly for your mind. Getting involved in an active social life and exercising will help with the mental and emotional part of the illness. To deal with the depression, which sometimes goes along with it, there are drugs that you can take but these have unpleasant side effects.

The prognosis for the disease is uncertain and depends a great deal on when symptoms started, how long they have been going on and how severe they are. Some patients recover in as little as 6 months to a year. Other patients take a lot longer. And some patients never return to how they were before being diagnosed with the illness.

There is still a lot we don’t now, but there is help. In my signature, you’ll find a resource that should help you a great deal in dealing with this very real illness.
